ASID Alabama Student Members
ASID Alabama is proud to have the most amazing interior design students in the state as members. Each year the student members impress and inspire all of us in ways we never expected. With two official student chapters, Auburn University and University of Alabama, and numerous independent student members at schools like Samford University and University of North Alabama, we are busting at the seams with talent and creativeness. Keep an eye on our member graduates, they’re going places and shaking things up.
Auburn University
The Student Chapter at Auburn University is the largest in the State, and, more importantly, one of the most prominent in the country. In 2018, Auburn’s Student Chapter was honored by receiving the Outstanding Student Chapter of the Year Award presented by the ASID national organization and has been a finalist for the award for the past 4 years. The students are impressive with their drive to achieve, their thirst to learn, and a passion for ensuring the health, safety, and welfare of the public.
The interior design program at Auburn is ranked as one of the top 10 design schools in the country, and it shows in the number of students who have been selected as winners and finalists in the ASID National Portfolio Competition. The Student Chapter continues to rack up awards and recognition, and we don’t see it stopping anytime soon.
The University of Alabama
The Student Chapter at the University of Alabama has an outstanding reputation of supporting their community, promoting the profession, and pushing each other to great heights. The Student Chapter is extremely active in their state Professional Chapter, including assisting in the planning and participation in statewide events, helping with insight into the student experience, and regularly entering ASID Alabama competitions, where they always win multiple awards.
Not satisfied with accomplishments in scholastics the student chapter is known for their outreach to the community. Using their skills, passion, and creativity to enhance the quality of life for people in Tuscaloosa and surrounding areas, the students continue to participate in everything from Habitat for Humanity to refurbishing historic buildings. The ASID Alabama professional chapter is constantly inspired by the student members at the University of Alabama, and we’re very grateful for them.
Additionally…
Both student chapters, Alabama and Auburn, regularly attend IMPACT: The Annual ASID Alabama Interior Design Conference held in Birmingham, and have the opportunity to attend SCALE: The ASID National Student Summit held in a different city across the country each year. At IMPACT, students are given the opportunity to network with local professionals, learn from our Industry Partners, and explore our State’s design communities. At SCALE, which has been held in locations like Los Angeles, Seattle, and New York, our student chapters have had the opportunity to hear world renowned industry professionals, meet and network with leading interior designers, and tour some of the most amazing cutting-edge buildings in the country.
Neither chapter is happy just settling for the status quo, they are constantly moving, evolving, and growing with new ideas and activites that enhance their career paths.
Samford University and University of North Alabama
Although their school doesn’t yet have an official student chapter, we also want you to know about our student members at Samford University and the University of North Alabama. Students at both schools have been impressive with their wins in the ASID Alabama Daisy Bond Student Design Awards; both have had students win the biggest award, “Best in Competition”. Not to mention their attendance at IMPACT: The ASID Alabama Interior Designer Conference where both schools have had a tremendous “impact”. To say that ASID Alabama and the State are blessed with the most talented interior design students in the country is an understatement.
